The class lasts for 6 weeks and you will be given print outs so that you can practice during the week. We will teach you to modify for your limitations and prepare you for entering the other classes. Although the pace is slow, the participants find their strength and flexibility increasing along with their understanding of alignment principles and execution of the poses in a fun filled environment. These classes are open to beginners or those who choose to work at a slower, yet active pace.
We make use of the Yoga Wall in these classes.
Instructor, Lindsey Meacham
This class is open to practitioners of all levels, emphasizing the union of mind and body through alignment-based Asana, Pranayama and meditation practices. Yoga with Lindsey is the perfect way to end your weekend and prepare for the week ahead.
Instructor, David Emerson
David Emerson comes to us with over ten years experience as a practitioner and over 2000 hours teaching experience in the past five years.
David loves sharing with others the benefits of flexibility, focus and self-empowerment that come from yoga practice. His clear, concise and patient instruction can be easily grasped by beginners. More seasoned practitioners will appreciate more detailed instruction for refining their posture, as well as David's sequencing of the postures for specific benefits.
Expect from David's class a vinyasa style practice that can bring a more dynamic, almost dance-like quality to the yoga asanas. While some yogis and yoginis prefer a faster, more vigorous practice, less experienced students who are still mastering proper engagement can easily overwork, misalign and injure themselves. This class emphasizes midfulness by moving at a deliberate pace and focusing on linking breath awareness with proper alignment in the yoga poses. This class is appropriate for all levels - modifications will be made for beginners.
Instructor, Lynn Felder
Beginner flow breaks down the classic "salutation to the sun," so that newcomers or begin-againers can align properly and get the most benefit from this traditional yoga flow (one posture linked to the next in a dance-like sequence). The class begins with a nice long centering and focusing practice, usually reclining but sometimes sitting, and warms the body up slowly with attention to specific areas that we'll use in the flow. Then we come to standing and "flow" - slowly - do some standing postures, a balance or two and come back to the floor for various hatha poses for a well-rounded, complete yoga practice.
Instructor, Lynn Felder
We ask that you have some prior yoga training before attending this class. A more rhythmic, energetic practice set to music. Appropriate for students who want more of a challenge from their yoga practice, you will be guided through a sequence of simple to more advanced asanas building strength and increasing both flexibility and stamina.
Instructor, Judi Maloy
The pace of this class is slow, gentle, and yet includes strength building to prepare you to move to the Level 1-2 classes. In these classes, we take a deeper approach to asanas (postures),and pranayama (breath control). There is a focus on improving alignment, and proper execution of the postures along with toning the muscles and improving flexibility. You can remain in these classes forever, or use them as a good preparation for the higher level classes.
Instructor, Judi Maloy
We ask that you have prior yoga training before attending this class. These classes can be very vigorous and less attention is paid to the fundamentals of yoga. We still focus on proper alignment but inversions, more advanced backbends and standing poses are focused on. Our classes are always taught with an attitude of fun and play in a safe and supported environment.
We make use of the Yoga Wall in these classes.
